Briar Cliff Softball adds Hinton, IA recruit

Briar Cliff women’s volleyball head coach Lindsey Weatherford has announced the signing of Aspen Coffee to her 2019 recruiting class. Coffee is a senior at Hinton High School in Hinton, Iowa.

“We are very excited to have Aspen join the BCU volleyball team,” said Weatherford. Her attitude and work ethic are both strong attributes and will help her transition well to the next level. Aspen is an outstanding local-area athlete who will help round out our defensive and offensive stature.”

Coffee is a 16-time letter winner for the Blackhawks, earning five in softball, four each in track and volleyball and three in basketball. During her sophomore volleyball season, she was named honorable mention all-conference. As a junior, she was named second team all-conference and earned first-team honors as a senior. She was also named team MVP as a senior and ended her high school career with 755 digs and 610 kills, both of which are on Hinton’s top-10 charts. She is only the third person at Hinton to end their career on both lists.

Coffee has also earned all-conference honors in track and softball and garnered academic athlete awards three times. She has been a member of the Gold Honor Roll throughout high school and is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Midwest Volleyball Power Club.

Coffee is the daughter of Reese Coffee and Kim Coffee and plans to major in business at the Cliff.
