The Briar Cliff women’s volleyball team fell in straight sets (20-25, 25-27, 20-25) to Mount Mercy Tuesday night in a non-conference match. The Chargers fall to 11-13 on the season while the Mustangs improve to 18-12.
The Blue and Gold was held to a hitting percentage of .06 in the match and were led by Victoria Gonzalez with nine kills and four errors on 33 attempts for a hitting percentage of .152. Mount Mercy had a hitting percentage of .151 and were led by Alyssa Weldon, who had 15 K’s.
Delaney Meyer tallied 12 assists and Maureen Imrie added nine. Brooklyn Tolliver chipped in nine assists to go with 18 digs. She was followed by Meyer with 11 digs and Harlee Wagoner with 10. Gonzalez and Tyra Blue took part in five blocks each.
Kayla Daggett owned the setting duties for the Mustangs and had 35 helpers. Lauren Stopko recorded 23 digs for the Mustangs and Olivia Coe assisted on four blocks.
The Chargers recorded three ace serves on the night with one each to Meyer, Imrie and Danielle Coronado. Becca Thomson had three aces for the Mustangs.
Briar Cliff will return home to play Friday night at the Newman Flanagan Center. The team will recognize its senior members before taking on Jamestown in a GPAC match. Opening serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
