The Briar Cliff women’s volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-16, 26-24, 25-22) to #16 Northwestern Tuesday night.
The Chargers recorded a .143 hitting percentage with 45 kills on 101 attacks in the contest, compared to .228 and 32 kills on 98 attacks for Northwestern. The Red Raiders led the game in total digs (43-30) and total blocks (10-7).
Courtney Schafer was the most productive attacker for the Cliff with 11 kills, followed by Victoria Gonzales with seven and Analyse Stapleton with five. Danielle Coronado and Cassie Clark led BCU in digs with seven each. Delaney Meyer and Maureen Imrie shared setting duties and assisted 15 and six times, respectively. Grace Whitlaw and Olivia Tomlin each took part in three blocks.
Bekah Horstman had a team-high 11 kills for Northwestern. Lauryn Hilger and Emily Van Ginkel recorded 10 K’s each. Hilger and Emily Strasser accounted for 10 digs a piece. Lacey Wacker assisted 35 times and Van Ginkel had a share in five blocks.
The Chargers play again on Friday and Saturday at the Johnson and Wales Tournament in Denver.
