CCC Women beat North Platte; Men lose

Day zchay lon Gardner led all scorers with 23 points to lead the Raiders to a 72-65 win over the visiting Knights.

The first half was close throughout and CCC led by two at halftime, 30-28. The Raiders outscored the Knights in the third quarter, 20-14, which turned out to be the final margin as NPCC came up short.

“The girls did a great job just staying the course and playing together as a team,” said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. “We did a good job of controlling the tempo of the game and stopping their runs in the third quarter. It was a great team win and everyone did a great job executing the game plan.”

Monica Brooks and Alexis Ramaekers also scored in double figures, with Brooks scoring 15 points and Ramaekers 13 points.

With the win, CCC has won four out of the last five games. The Raiders are 9-13 on the season.

 

The Central Community College men’s basketball team lost to North Platte Community College, 92-57, on Friday night at Raider Fieldhouse.

NPCC shot 52 percent from the floor, while CCC was held to 38 percent. The Knights outrebounded the Raiders, 45-30.

Damien Marquez led three CCC players in double figures with 15 points, while Tre’vion Crawford tallied 14 points. Manape Cleveland rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points.

The loss gives the Raiders an 8-15 mark.

CCC was supposed to play McCook on the road Monday night, but both contests were called off due to inclement weather.
