Charger softball in underdog role in 2019

After a 5-32 season in 2018, the Briar Cliff softball team was picked to finish last in the GPAC this season based on the conference preseason coaches’ poll.

The Chargers went 2-18 in league player last year and look to improve under first-year head coach Erin Bly. The team does bring back Nicole Wiles, a Second-Team All-GPAC outfielder.

Midland earned the top slot in the poll with nine first-place votes and 119 total poll points. Last season, the Warriors tied for the league title with Morningside. The Mustangs were selected third behind conference newcomer Jamestown.
