Creighton Baseball Announces 2019 Signing Class

Omaha, Neb. — Creighton Baseball head coach Ed Servais announced the Bluejays’ 2019 signing class adding Cole AlbersZach BiermanPatrick CollinsJustin DivelbissJosh DuddenCole EvansLuke FitzgeraldCam FrederickGriffin Holderfield and Jake Snyder to Creighton’s 2020 squad.

“We have a large upper class this year, so this class is very important. I thought we were able to address our needs very well, I’m impressed with some of the young arms and I think they will be able to contribute right away. In addition, the group of infielders will also have the opportunity to earn immediate playing time.” said Servais. “Our assistant coaches, specifically our recruiting coordinator Connor Gandossy and pitching coach Eric Wordekemper, did an excellent job identifying talented players that will fit in with our identity and thrive as Bluejays.

A 6-2 shortstop currently playing at Iowa Western CC, Cole Albers is originally from Brooklyn Park, Minn. Last season Albers helped the Reivers reach the junior college World Series, hitting over .300. Albers played high school ball at Champlin Park HS, earning two All-North Suburban Conference selections.

Coming to Creighton from Dubuque, Iowa, Zach Bierman is a 6-1 southpaw on the bump.  Bierman is a top 500 Player in country according to Perfect Game and the third ranked LHP in Iowa. Bierman played for West Dubuque HS.

Staying in the high school ranks the Bluejays added right-hander Patrick Collinsfrom Mount Michael Benedictine HS in Elkhorn. Rated as one of the top-20 players in Nebraska by Prep Baseball Report, Collins earned Class B Honorable Mention last season from the Omaha World-Herald.

Slotted in the top 60 players in Illinois by Prep Baseball ReportJustin Divelbisscomes to Creighton from Plainfield Central HS. The right-handed pitcher stands 6-0.

The Bluejays’ second junior college signee, Josh Dudden will come to Omaha after two seasons at Central Arizona College. Originally from Colorado Springs, Colo, Dudden is a middle infielder that played his high school ball at Air Academy. Last season Dudden hit .309 for the Vaqueros, raising that mark to .357 in league play.

A two-sport star for Grand Island HS, Cole Evans is a 6-1 outfielder/first baseball. The top outfielder in Nebraska as well as the fourth best player in the state according to Prep Baseball Report, Evans led his football team to the Nebraska State Championship game this fall,

Joining the catching ranks for Creighton, Luke Fitzgerald will come to Omaha from Oak Park, Illinois. Noted as one of the top 500 players in the country by Perfect Game, Fitzgerald played for Oak Park-River Forest HS.

Cam Frederick in a Lincoln Southwest HS product, ranked as the top middle infielder in Nebraska by Prep Baseball Report. Standing 5-11, Frederick is the second best player in the state according to Perfect Game.

Creighton’s third recruit from Illinois is a 6-3 RHP and current teammate of Fitzgerald at Oak Park-River Forest HS. Griffin Holderfield is rated as the #18 player from Illinois by Perfect Game.

Reaching all the way into the Pacific Northwest, Jake Snyder will come to Creighton from Kirkland, Washington. Snyder is an 6-5 RHP at O’Dea HS and enters his senior campaign as the 22nd rated player in the state of Washington according to Perfect Game.
