OMAHA, Neb. — The Creighton men’s basketball team is ranked 25th in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll. Creighton is also ranked a season-best 22nd in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
It’s the fourth time this season that CU’s been in the AP’s top 25, as it has also been exactly 25th on Nov. 27, Dec. 18 and Dec. 25.
Creighton has now been ranked in the AP poll in 88 weeks in program history, with 60 of those under the direction of eighth-year head coach Greg McDermott. Creighton is 112-42 all-time as a ranked team, including a 3-2 mark this season.
Creighton is one of 21 teams with multiple AP Top 25 victories this season, and one of 17 teams with a true road win over an AP Top 25 club this winter.
The Bluejays are one of four BIG EAST teams that are nationally ranked by the AP this week, joining No. 1 Villanova, No. 10 Xavier and No. 13 Seton Hall.
Creighton’s No. 22 designation in the USA Today Coaches Poll marks the sixth time this year the Bluejays have been ranked in that poll, and fifth consecutive week. The program was also No. 23 on November 27th and Dec. 26th, No. 24 on Dec. 18 and Jan. 2, and No. 25 on Dec. 11th. Creighton has been ranked in 70 different weeks under Greg McDermott by the coaches.
Creighton is also 35th in the NCAA’s official RPI this week.
Creighton returns to the court on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. game against Butler.
