OMAHA, Neb. — The Creighton Volleyball team moved up four spots to a season-best 10th in the third poll of the regular-season that was announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday.

This is the fifth time in program history that Creighton has made it into the top-10, and first time since a No. 8 ranking on Sept. 11, 2017. CU’s all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017.

The Bluejays ascended in the rankings after a 2-1 week against three teams that were national seeds in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Creighton dropped a 3-2 match against then-No. 7 Nebraska on Thursday before rebounding to defeat both Iowa State and Wichita State in four sets. Jaali Winters was named MVP after helping Creighton to the Bluejay Invitational title, and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Madelyn Cole and Taryn Kloth.

Creighton (6-3) is 64-20 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 40 all-time polls, and are one of 14 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 26 editions. The Bluejays have been in every poll since Oct. 31, 2016.

BYU moved into the top spot in the national rankings for the first time since 1986 with 54 first-place votes. Stanford climbed to No. 2 and is followed in the top-five by Texas, Nebraska and Penn State.

Creighton also held steady at 14th in the poll.

The Bluejays close non-conference play this weekend in Champaign, Ill., at the Illini Classic. Creighton faces Lipscomb on Friday at 7 p.m. before meeting Northern Iowa on Saturday at 10 a.m. CU closes the event with a match against tourney host and No. 8 ranked Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Also ranked in the top 25 was Marquette, who is No. 21.
