Creighton Volleyball Now 16th in RPI; 17th in AVCA Poll

OMAHA, Neb. — One week prior to Selection Sunday, the Creighton Volleyball team remained in the top 16 of both the AVCA poll and the NCAA’s official RPI when those were announced on Monday.

The Bluejays fell seven spots to No. 16 in the RPI and dipped four positions in the AVCA poll to 17th after losing at Villanova and winning at Georgetown last weekend. The Bluejays are 23-6 overall and finished 16-2 in the BIG EAST.

Creighton is 55-16 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 34 all-time polls, and are one of 16 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 20 editions. The Bluejays have been in every poll since Oct. 31, 2016.

The Bluejays, who have played the nation’s eighth-toughest schedule according to the NCAA, have faced seven teams that are ranked in this week’s poll (No. 6 Kentucky, No. 12 Washington, No. 13 USC, No. 14 Kansas, No. 16 Purdue, No. 20 Wichita State and No. 22 Iowa State).

Penn State remained in the top spot in the national rankings with all 64 first-place votes. Texas, Florida, Stanford and Nebraska round out the top five.

Creighton also fell one spot to 13th in the poll, while falling six spots to 29th in the poll.

Creighton heads to the BIG EAST Championships, presented by Jeep, this weekend in Milwaukee. The top-seeded Bluejays meet fourth-seeded Villanova in a 12:30 p.m. semifinal on Friday.
