OMAHA, Neb. — The Creighton Volleyball team rose one spot to 14th in the AVCA poll on Monday following a 2-0 weekend.
The Bluejays opened BIG EAST play with matching 3-1 victories over Georgetown on Friday and Villanova on Sunday. CU has now won 26 straight regular-season matches in conference play.
Creighton (9-4, 2-0 BIG EAST) is 41-14 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 26 all-time polls, and are one of 18 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 12 editions.
The Bluejays, who have played the nation’s toughest schedule according to the NCAA, have faced eight teams that are ranked in this week’s poll (No. 6 Washington, No. 10 Kentucky, No. 11 Kansas, No. 18 Iowa State, No. 19 Purdue, No. 20 USC, No. 22 Northern Iowa and No. 25 Wichita State).
Florida moved into the top spot with 58 first-place votes after No. 1 Minnesota and No. 2 Penn State were both swept at home.
Creighton hits the BIG EAST road for the first time this fall when it visits Seton Hall on Friday and St. John’s on Saturday.
