Creighton Volleyball Ranked A Season-Best Ninth

OMAHA, Neb. — After seven straight weeks being ranked 10th, the Creighton Volleyball team climbed to a season-best ninth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll that was published on Monday.

This is the 12th time in program history that Creighton has made it into the top-10, and school-record eighth consecutive week in a row. CU’s all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017.

Creighton ascended after an impressive road week that included a 3-1 win at then-No. 18 Marquette and a 3-0 sweep at DePaul. Marquette moved to No. 19 this week.

Creighton (20-4, 12-0 BIG EAST) is 78-21 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 47 all-time polls, and are one of 11 clubs to be ranked in each of the last 33 editions. The Bluejays have been in every poll since Oct. 31, 2016.

BYU remained in the top spot in the national rankings with 52 first-place votes. Stanford held steady at No. 2 and is followed in the top-five by Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. Nebraska jumped a spot from ninth to eighth despite a home loss to Illinois over the weekend.

Creighton is a season-best No. 17 in the fifth official NCAA RPI of the season, climbing five spots. Creighton owns three top-20 RPI wins, having defeated No. 9 Kentucky, No. 15 UNI and No. 20 Marquette this fall.

Creighton improved one line to ninth in the poll, a season-best in that poll.

The Bluejays play their final road matches of the regular-season this weekend with a trip to St. John’s (Friday, 6 p.m. CST) and Seton Hall (Saturday, 6 p.m. CST)
