Gerber, Zenk highlight All-GPAC Awards for Morningside Volleyball

SIOUX CITY, IOWA –Junior middle blocker Emma Gerber (JR/Worthington, MN) (Worthington, Minn.)and sophomore outside hitter Krista Zenk (SO/Le Mars, IA) (LeMars, Iowa)spotlighted the 2018 all-Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball selections for Morningside College.

The awards were announced Wednesday, Nov. 14. The Maroon have had at least one first or second teamer in each of the last four years.

Gerber registered her first first team selection after being a second team honoree as a sophomore. She ranks among the top five in hitting percentage (.300) and first 15 in kills (294) in the loop to help lead the Mustangs to a berth in the conference postseason tournament while locking up host duties for the 2018 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ championships later this month.

Zenk garnered her first all-conference honor, as she was named to the second team. She’s the squad leader in kills (324) and is second in digs (264).

Head coach Beth Donnelly‘s squad also had junior setter Callie Alberico (JR/Fort Calhoun, NE) (Fort Calhoun, Neb.)and freshman defensive specialist Kayla Harris(FR/Dakota City, NE) (Dakota City, Neb.)gain honorable mention recognition.
