IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball team released its 2019 schedule, UI head coach Renee Gillispie announced Wednesday. The Hawkeyes will play 13 teams that qualified for the 2018 NCAA Regionals.
The Hawkeyes hit the road for their first five weekends of the season. Iowa will play in the Tiger Classic, Diamond 9 Citrus Blossom, Diamond 9 Citrus Classic, USF Series, and Saluki Invitational, before traveling to Illinois State for a midweek game on March 20. Iowa plays in its Big Ten opener at Purdue the following weekend.
Iowa hosts its first game on Bob Pearl Field on March 27 at 7 p.m. (CT) against Western Illinois and its first Big Ten series two days later with Northwestern coming to Iowa City. In addition, the Hawkeyes host Big Ten foes Illinois, Nebraska, and Ohio State.
The Hawkeyes and Cyclones square off in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series at Pearl Field on April 10 at 6 p.m.
