YORK – Amber Jimenez (SO/Gilbert, Ariz) didn’t waste any time getting the Panthers on the scoreboard Wednesday afternoon as she scored her first of three goals just 29 seconds into the game. She scored two more times in the team’s 7-0 win against Sterling College. Breanna Bembenek (SO/New Lenox, Ill) also had a huge day as she scored twice, becoming the program’s leading goal scorer with 16 goals.

Less than a minute into the game Jazmin Pineda (FR/San Diego, Calif) turned down the far side and dribbled to the end line before sending a ball across the middle to Jimenez. A side step and a well placed shot put the Panthers up for good.

Jimenez scored her second goal less than seven minutes later off of a pass from Bembenek. In the 17th minute of play Justine Medina (JR/Fontana, Calif) took a free kick from 25 yards out and placed it over the keeper’s outstretched hand to give York the comfortable lead. The half wasn’t over yet and Bembenek sent another cross in, this time to Ciara Flores (FR/Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif) whoknocked in past the Warriors’ keeper for the 4-0 lead at the break.

It was the 60th minute when Jimenez recorded her first collegiate hat trick off of passes from Bembenek and Carmen Zavala (SO/Chino, Calif). Two minutes later it was Bembenek’s turn to score, after already garnering three assists on the afternoon. Zavala flicked a pass with the outside of her foot down the sideline for Bembenek to run onto to. She received it in stride and scored on the back post.

The final goal, and record setting one, came in the 84th minute as Bembenek juked the keeper after a nice pass from Justine Medina.

York controlled the game in all aspects, allowing just two shots, one of which was on goal. Sam Blazek(FR/Diamond Bar, Calif) picked up the win save earning her another shut out on the season.

The win was a much needed one for the Panthers who had dropped two straight and four of their last five games. York will host Bethel College this Saturday as they honor their lone senior Madison Kinney(SR/Council Bluffs, Iowa)
