Midland falls to Briar Cliff in Wrestling

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – No. 20 Midland University had three wrestlers win decisions in a 25-9 loss to No. 19 Briar Cliff University on Wednesday at the Newman Flanagan Center. The Warriors suffered their defeat in a dual this season bringing their record to 2-1 in GPAC duals.

Senior Adam Ball from Manistee, Michigan; freshman Brandon Johnson from Lake Stevens, Washington; and senior Paul Longshore from Alexandria, Kentucky, picked up the individual wins for the Warriors.

Ball scored a 7-3 decision over Jeremiah Glise at 197 pounds to get Midland on the scoreboard. Johnson followed with an 8-2 victory over Scott Dollison at 285 to bring the Warriors within three points of the Chargers.

Briar Cliff would take the next set of matchups before Midland picked up their final victory of the evening in the last bout, at 157 pounds when Longshore scored an 8-3 decision over Brandon Meyer.

The Warriors will be in Crete, Nebraska this Saturday for the Doane Open before taking a short holiday break. Midland’s first event after the end of the term will be the Viking-Warrior Open on December 30.
