Norfolk’s Moore Signs with Northeast to Play Basketball

NORFOLK, NE – A standout player from Norfolk High School has signed to play basketball for Northeast Community College.

Kyla Moore will join the Hawks this fall.

A point guard, Moore is the all-times steals leader at Norfolk High with 183, and also holds the second-place spot in all-time scoring with 770 career points. She is also a three-time honorable mention in the Omaha World Herald’s and Lincoln Journal Star’s all-state teams, and was named an all-GNAC conference first-team selection three times.

During her senior season with the Panthers, Moore averaged 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and 2.9 steals per game.

“Kyla brings good quickness and energy to the court,” said Matt Svehla, Northeast coach. “She is the all-time steals leader at Norfolk High, and she finished second on their all-time scoring list. To get it done on both ends of the court shows that she is a two-way player. Our team generally likes to push the tempo, and Kyla fits into that mentality.”

Moore plans to enroll in general studies while at Northeast.

She joins Blake Mann, of Burwell, as the Hawks’ newest signees.
