Northeast drops match to Iowa Central in five

NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College volleyball team fell to #20 Iowa Central Community College here last night in five sets. The Tritons defeated the Hawks 25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 18-25 and 15-12.

Monique Schafer and Macy Stewart led the Hawks in kills with eleven each, while Samantha Brester had ten and Taylor Klassen, nine. Brester put up one solo block and four assist blocks, while Taylor Lammers had three solo blocks and one assist block. Peyton Roach and Delaney Belt led ace serves with two each. Roach also led digs with 41, while Schafer recorded 32. Savannah Nelson tallied 45 assists.

Iowa Central is currently ranked 20th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.

Northeast (11-9) will travel to Mason City, IA, on Wednesday, October 4, to face North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) at 7 p.m.
