Omaha Volleyball inks 7

OMAHA, Neb. — Head volleyball coach Rose Shires announced her seven-member signing class Tuesday, as Alexa Blase, Sydney Case, Giselle Eiche, Sadie Limback, Rylee Marshall, Kenzie Michalek and Baylee Mittelstaedt will join the Omaha program in 2018-19.

ALEXA BLASE
OH, 5-11, Grand Island, Neb. (Grand Island)

Blase has been a four-year letterwinner for coach Bill Root at Grand Island High School, where she earned all-state honorable mention recognition. As a senior, she averaged 4.1 kills, 2.1 digs and 0.2 aces per set, and she owns 737 kills, 292 digs and 55 blocks over her career.

Blase has also lettered three years in basketball and track & field and is a three-time state qualifier in the 100m hurdles. She plays club volleyball for coach Steph Brand of Nebraska Gold.

SYDNEY CASE
S, 5-10, Lakeville, Minn. (Lakeville South)

Case has been a three-year letterwinner for coach Steve Willingham at Lakeville South High School. As a senior, she served as a team captain and was a Class AAA all-state and academic all-state selection. Case earned first-team South Suburban all-conference accolades in 2016 and 2017, and she is Lakeville South’s record holder for single-season and career assists and service aces. Over her career, Lakeville South has gone 81-14, including 25-5 in her senior campaign.

Case has averaged 9.9 assists, 1.8 digs and 0.6 aces per set as a senior and owns 2,430 assists, 370 digs, 76 blocks, 118 aces and 62 kills for her career.

GISELLE EICHE
DS, 5-7, Wheat Ridge, Colo. (Ralston Valley)

Eiche has been a four-year letterwinner for coach Deb Ponis at Ralston Valley High School, where her squad won back-to-back league championships in 2015 and 2016. Eiche picked up first-team all-conference recognition and CHSAA first-team academic all-state honors, and as a senior, helped her team to a third-place league finish and averaged 4.2 digs and 0.2 aces per set.

Eiche also plays club volleyball for coach Jim Stone and the NORCO program.

SADIE LIMBACK
RS, 5-11, Waverly, Mo. (Santa Fe)

Limback has been a four-year letterwinner for coach Kinsey Harms at Santa Fe High School. Limback has earned all-state, all-region, all-district and all-conference recognition over her career and was tabbed her conference’s player of the year. Additionally, she helped her team to a record of 33-3 with an Elite 8 finish and a sectional championship.

Limback is the Missouri state leader for kills (463) and aces (112) this season and was honored as the MaxPreps/AVCA Missouri Player of the Week on Oct. 15. She was also selected to the Missouri-Kansas All-Star Team. In her senior season, she has averaged 6.1 kills, 2.5 digs, 1.3 blocks and 1.5 aces per set while hitting .455.

RYLEE MARSHALL
MB, 6-1, Fort Calhoun, Neb. (Fort Calhoun)

Marshall has been a four-year letterwinner for coach James Slie at Fort Calhoun High School. A team captain, she was a Class C1 all-state honorable mention selection and a two-time first-team all-conference selection. As a senior, Marshall posted 482 kills and 172 blocks, and for her career, she owns 1,458 kills and 628 stops at the net.

Marshall has also lettered three years in basketball, in which she has been a two-time all-state selection with first-team honors in 2015-16 and second-team recognition in 2016-17.

Marshall plays club volleyball for coach Tony Carrow of Nebraska Elite.

KENZIE MICHALEK
DS, 5-7, Papillion, Neb. (Papillion-La Vista)

Michalek has been a four-year letterwinner for coach Kristen Lebeda-Svehla at Papillion-La Vista High School. Her team finished as state runner-up in 2015 and was a state semifinalist in 2016 and 2017, and she is a two-time academic all-state selection.

Michalek has been tabbed an AVCA Phenom honoree three straight years and was a Defensive Dandies honorable mention in 2017. She earned special mention for the 2016 Soph 79 List and was named to the 2015 Frosh 59.

Michalek plays club volleyball for coach Rick Welch of the Nebraska Premier program.

BAYLEE MITTELSTAEDT
OH, 6-0, Farmington, Utah (Bountiful)

Mittelstaedt has been a four-year letterwinner for coach Sarah Chism at Bountiful High School. In her senior campaign, she was named second-team all-state, a nominee for the Under Armour All-America team and a selection for the Utah all-star game. Mittelstaedt’s team finished as state runner-up in 2017, and she averaged 2.4 kills, 1.5 digs, 0.4 blocks and 0.3 aces per set.

Mittelstaedt plays club volleyball for coaches Eric and Kristy Howard of the Club V program.
