OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha women’s basketball head coach Brittany Lange released the Mavericks’ 2018-19 schedule on Thursday. The Mavericks’ upcoming regular-season slate is comprised of 29 games, including 14 home contests at Baxter Arena.
“Playing a schedule of this magnitude and high-level competition, we aim to expose our team to a variety of different styles that will best prepare us for Summit League play,” said Lange. “We are looking forward to competing against nine different conferences.”
The Mavericks get things going with their lone exhibition contest against Avila College on Nov. 4.
Omaha opens the regular season by hosting USC Upstate on Nov. 9. The Mavericks then head to Kansas State for their first road contest (Nov. 12), before returning home to face Cal State Northridge on Nov. 16.
The Mavericks travel to Bozeman, Mont. to face Montana State on Nov. 20, and then to Miami, Fla., Nov. 23-25, for the Florida International Thanksgiving Tournament, where they will play two games.
Omaha faces at Detroit Mercy on Nov. 29, to wrap up a four-game road stretch. The Mavericks return to Baxter Arena to take on Graceland Dec. 2, before visiting crosstown foe Creighton on Dec. 5.
Omaha returns to Baxter Arena to play three straight games – CSU Bakersfield (Dec. 9), Bradley (Dec. 14) and Peru State (Dec. 17), then close out the non-conference schedule before Christmas with a Dec. 21 game at Northern Iowa.
“Our league continues to climb the RPI rankings and proves to be one of the top mid-major conferences in the country. That is only getting stronger with the addition of North Dakota,” said Lange.
The Mavericks open Summit League play at home, against Denver (Dec. 28) and Oral Roberts (Dec. 30) to cap 2018. The following week, they head back to Baxter Arena with North Dakota State (Jan. 6), then open their league road schedule at North Dakota (Jan. 9) and Western Illinois (Jan. 16).
Omaha welcomes Summit League regular-season champions South Dakota (Jan. 20), then begin another jaunt for dates at Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 23) and South Dakota State (Jan. 26).
The Mavericks bring in North Dakota (Feb. 3) to open the second half of league play. Omaha then hits the road for a return game against South Dakota (Feb. 6).
The final three home games are against Western Illinois (Feb. 9), South Dakota State (Feb. 13) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 16).
For the second consecutive year, the Mavericks close the regular-season with three-straight road games at North Dakota State (Feb. 23), Oral Roberts (Feb. 28) and Denver (March 2).
The Summit League Tournament, which builds its field from the top eight teams in the conference standings, is set for March 9-12 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
