Omaha’s Kinney named Summit League Pitcher of the Week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Senior right-hander Payton Kinney garnered his third Summit League Pitcher of the Week honor of the season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Over the week, Kinney improved to a league-best 7-0 on the season after he tied his career-high of 11 strikeouts for the second time this season. Through 8.0 innings of work, Kinney allowed just one run and one walk en route to the team’s 4-2 win in game two over Oral Roberts last Friday, April 12.

The Firth, Neb., native is now 10th in all of Division I with a 1.20 ERA that also leads The Summit League, and his 45 strikeouts this season rank second in conference play.

Omaha returns to action with a mid-week game against Nebraska this Wednesday, April 17, against Nebraska. The Mavericks and Huskers will play at Werner Park with a 6:35 p.m.
