The Lexington girls soccer team saw it’s season come to an end on Monday as they lost in the first round of the B-8 subdistrict tournament in Gering losing to Scottsbluff 3-0. Coach Keith Allen had these comments on the game. “The four forwards we played today had a decent showing, but came up short. Starting Juniors Lizbeth Lopez and captain Kathy Flores had several good opportunities, including Kathy’s shot in the first 15 minutes that rocked the post, which would have put us up a goal early. Lizbeth gave great hustle, and Sophomore Karla Garcia and Senior Fatuma Yusuf came in and gave great support in the attack. Sophomore Jenna Sanchez also showed her dynamic skills in between injuries this year…a real threat when she is healthy!”

“Our holding midfielders gave Scottsbluff fits for most of the game as Senior Captain Eulalia Fransisco and Freshman Katie “KC” Caballero gave a good fight in front of the defense. Our defense was solid all year. Led by Junior Daniela “Dan” Lopez, and Freshman Kimberly Corzo in the center, and supported by their outside backs, Junior Lucia Castro, Sophomores Katty Escobar, Carolyn Zamora, and Freshman Janette Ortiz. The group continued to grow throughout the year, and there were times that the heart of our defense was holding things together with freshmen and sophomores.” The Minutemaids end the season at 2-12.
