Tigers Upset Jaguars on Parents’ Night

Tigers Upset Jaguars on Parents’ Night

TEKAMAH – There was a new resident in Upset City when Tekamah-Herman hosted Howells-Dodge in high school volleyball on Parents Night Thursday, in action heard on 107.9 The Bull.

The Tigers earned their third win of the season, upsetting the then 15-12 Jaguars 3-1.

The teams changed leads several times in the opening set, with the Tigers eventually winning 25-21.

The story was similar in the second set, with Tekamah-Herman winning 25-20.

The Jaguars seemed to rebound in the third set, downing the Tigers 25-13.

The Tigers wouldn’t be denied on Parents Night, however, as they built and early lead in the fourth set, and went on to win 25-19, claiming the match 3-1.

“We have worked on finishing all year long. And actually, yesterday’s practice was a rough practice, and it was because we were working on finishing and we weren’t getting the job done,” Tigers head coach Becky Rennerfeldt said. “…I honestly think that our record this year is deceiving. You know, we only have two wins, but we have competed all season long with the majority of teams that we’ve played, but we just were never able to just get the job done, and tonight we did.”

The Tigers are 3-25 on the season while Howells-Dodge is now 15-13.

Both teams wrap up the regular season Tuesday night as Tekamah-Herman takes on BRLD on the road and Howells-Dodge hosts West Point-Beemer and Pender in a Triangular.
