UNK Women Pick Up First Win, Look to Keep Things Rolling

Early on the University of Nebraska at Kearney Women’s Basketball team is showing signs of growth. They were able to take down Central Christian last week 95-66. At one point in the game, UNK trailed 8-7 in the first quarter, but after that it was all Lopers as they blew out the Tigers.

Four Lopers were in double figures including freshman Shiloh McCool as she was 6-6 from the field with 16 points, sophomore Kelsey Sanger added 14 points, freshman Elisa Backes had 13 points, and junior Lauren O’Connell had 12 points. UNK shot 53% from the field as well.

The Lopers are 1-2 and in action tonight against Bethel College. That game will tip-off at 5:30 P.M. and can be heard on 93.1 The River. Over the weekend, they will compete in the UNK Crossover Tournament. They will face Chadron State on Saturday at 7 P.M. and Colorado Springs on Sunday at 4 P.M. Both games can be heard on 93.1 The River.
