UNK Women’s Basketball Team Starts 0-2

UNK Women’s Basketball Team Starts 0-2

It’s been a rocky start to the season for the University of Nebraska at Kearney Women’s Basketball team. They have started out with a pair of losses first to Minnesota-Crookston 71-59 and then to Wayne State 69-52. With a young team and a number of new players, this seems to be a feeling out process for UNK.

In the contests against Minnesota-Crookston, the first quarter was a killer as they trailed 23-13. After that, they were only outscored by two points for the remainder of the game, 48-46. Freshman Shiloh McCool had a big game recording a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Against Wayne State, it was a reversal, as entering the fourth quarter UNK trailed by just seven 48-41. But, the Wildcats scored 21 in the final period while allowing just 11 for UNK. Freshman Maegan Holt had nine points to lead UNK in that ball game.

UNK will look to bounce back this week first against Central Christian on Wednesday. Last year UNK beat them by a final score of 87-48. Central Christian has struggled to begin this season as they are 0-4. The there latest loss comes to McPherson College, 71-56. Central Christian will be led by Piper Kalthoff as she is averaging 16.8 points per game and three assists.  We will carry the game on 93.1 The River and it will begin at 8 P.M.
