Wayne State closes the regular season in NSIC men’s basketball this weekend at Rice Auditorium, hosting Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls in key South Division games. The Wildcats enter the weekend at 18-8 overall and tied for first with Minnesota State in the NSIC South Division with a 13-7 league mark heading into Friday’s 7:30 p.m. contest against SMSU, 15-11 and 10-10 in league play. Sioux Falls starts the weekend at 17-9 and 12-8 in league play. In the first meetings this season played January 4 and 5 on the road, WSC won at Southwest Minnesota State 75-68 and lost at Sioux Falls 77-71.
The Wayne State College women’s basketball team concludes the regular season at home this weekend facing Southwest Minnesota State Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Sioux Falls Saturday in a 3:30 p.m. contest in Rice Auditorium. The Wildcats are 13-13 on the season and 8-12 in the NSIC South Division while SMSU comes to Wayne with records of 12-13 and 9-11 in league play. Sioux Falls starts the weekend at 19-7 and 14-6 in the league (2nd-NSIC South). Earlier this season, WSC edged SMSU in Marshall 76-74 while falling at Sioux Falls 81-59.
