WSC opens football season at Northern State Thursday night

Wayne State opens the 2017 college football season Thursday evening with a 6 p.m. contest against Northern State at Swisher Field in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Last season, NSU was 6-5 and 4-3 in the NSIC North while WSC was 3-8 and 2-5 in the NSIC South.

The Wolves hold a 13-10 lead in the all-time series against the Wildcats, but WSC has won five of the last six matchups that include a 34-27 win in Wayne two years ago.

The last time WSC played NSU in Aberdeen resulted in the longest game in Wildcat football history as Northern State outlasted Wayne State 29-27 in triple overtime
