YORK – The York Duke boys basketball team capped off the 2018 York Holiday Basketball Tournament with a very solid performance, winning the boys bracket championship by defeating Platteview 71-53 Saturday afternoon at York High School.

The Dukes had more energy and showed more balance than they had Friday night in a 44-39 win over Elkhorn.
It was a tight 15-14 lead over Platteview after the first quarter, but York’s offense gradually heated up the rest of the way. At halftime the Dukes led 33-22. They extended the lead to 50-37 by the end of the third period, and continued to extend their lead in the final frame.
While only four players scored Friday night, Saturday’s game saw eight Dukes scoring in a balanced attack. Garrett Snodgrass, who scored only seven points Friday, poured in 26 game high points in the championship game. Brady Danielson and Wyatt Cast were also in double figures, scoring 17 and 10 points respectively.
York, now 8-1 on the season, returns to regular season action Thursday, January 3, when they host Beatrice.
