(Audio) Milford Comes Up Just Short Against Ogallala

LINCOLN  – The Ogallala Indians led 4-2 at the beginning of the game against Milford at the Class C1 state playoffs and 55-54 at the end of the game. That’s all the Indians needed to advance to the second round of the playoffs and will prepare to take on North Bend Central.

Nate Mencik had another great day for the Eagles as he scored 26 points, before cramping up late in the game. Bragen Meyer finished with 13 points, but fouled out before the end of the game.

Ogallala took the lead for the final time with 28.9 seconds left to go on a basket by Clayton Murphy. Milford called a timeout to set up a play. However, after failing to find the shot they wanted turned the ball over. They had another shot with 2.2 seconds left, however Mencik’s half court heave came up short.

The Eagles came closer than anyone to defeating undefeated and top seeded Ogallala. Carter Brown finished with 22 points for Ogallala who moves to 27-0.

Milford finishes the season 21-6.
