An annual event since 2003, The Christmas Dinner in the Valley, will be held once again this year by Harvest Valley Church. There will be a few changes to note this year. There will not be a dine-in option this year, but meals will be available by delivery or may be picked up on Christmas Day. The meal is free, open to the public, and will consist of baked ham, mashed potatoes with gravy, seasoned green beans, applesauce, a roll, a piece of pie, and milk.
To have a meal delivered to you, you can call the Christmas Dinner in the Valley line at 633-2999 or go to harvestvalleychurch.com and complete the meal delivery form.
To pick up a meal on Christmas Day, you can go to one of two locations. Meals will be available for pick up between 11:00 a.m. -1 p.m. at Harvest Valley Church, 743 Winter Creek Drive in Scottsbluff or between 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. at the “By God’s Grace Mobile Meal” truck which will be parked at the Guadalupe Center, 1200 East 9th Street in Scottsbluff.
“In every circumstance, pandemic or prosperity, the world is in desperate need of Christians willing to show the love of Jesus Christ through their actions,” says Larry Massie, an event organizer. “Not sentimental feelings, but determined acts of will. That has been, and is still the heart of this meal. Not to call attention to those who perform the service, but to place other’s concerns above our own and bring honor to the One in whom our hope and future lies.”
“As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to share His love with those around us,” says Melissa Turman, another event organizer. “This year and this meal provides a unique opportunity to show that love in action by meeting the needs of those around us.”
