What would have been the 32nd annual Sugar Valley Rally won’t take place this year due to a combination of factors, partially including the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sugar Valley Rally Board of Directors announced today the decision to cancel was mainly due to the rarity of individuals and associations knowledgeable about sanctioning precision timed rallies. “It’s unfortunately one of those things where the gentleman who sanctioned it for us in previous years passed away late last year, and we had been in negotiations with another gentleman familiar with how to do it and be the rally master,” says Race Coordintor Rachael Jenkins, “and he backed out a week ago.”

Additional concerns about the COVID-19 mitigations aided the board’s  decision to cancel our beloved event.

The board says feedback on the opportunity for a 2021 Sugar Valley Rally is appreciated, and Jenkins says they are anxious to find someone to willing and able to sanction future events and organizers are hoping to see everyone next year.

She also tells KNEB News the board is looking at options for a future event that would not necessarily include the precision-timed competition.
