Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Confirms Saturday Morning Fatality Accident

The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department confirms a Saturday morning fatality accident  east of Scottsbluff.

First responders were called to the scene on Highland Road west of County Road 28 shortly before 9 a.m.

Sheriff Mark Overman  confirms one fatality, and another person was transported to Regional West with serious injuries.

Overman says preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided nearly head on with a westbound vehicle.


Sheriff Overman says crews were on scene until approximately 2:15 p.m. and says this remains  an active investigation  and are still in the process of notifying family members of the parties involved.

He says his department does not expect to release any further information until sometime on Monday.

Authorities that responded to the scene included the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Department, Minatare/ Melbeta Fire Department, Scottsbluff Fire Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Minatare Police Department,  Valley Ambulance, Airlink, Nebraska Game and Parks, Scotts Bluff County Attorneys Office, and Scotts Bluff County Roads Department.
