The West Nebraska Arts Center, lead by the support of Platte Valley Companies, the North Platte Valley Artist Guild, the Panhandle Shrine Club, and the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, is excited to announce that enrollment is now open for After-School Art Program.
The goal of West Nebraska Arts Center’s seven month After-School Art Program is to offer visual arts education to grades 1-6 using the Nebraska State Standards for Fine Arts Education as a guide. Students will create, present, respond to, and connect with art. Through exploration of media – painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, applied design and technology – child will create a portfolio of their work throughout the program and have an opportunity to participate in a gallery exhibit during the month of April. This year students will also be able to make artwork from clay and have it fired at Der Töpfer Art Gallery and Studio owned by Rod Clause.
Instructor for After School Art Program ( ASAP) 1st through 3rd will be Larry Delgado.
Larry Delgado studied art at Western Nebraska Community College with instructors Roy Dorfler & Zia Seever. He attended numerous art seminars & workshops. His artwork has show in venues throughout Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado & is included in private collections. He taught art classes at Lincoln Elementary, & West Nebraska Arts Center (WNAC), private lessons at his studio. Larry is a Past President and present President of the North Platte Valley Artist Guild and has also served on the Board of Directors at WNAC. He has taught for ASAP and Art Camps for WNAC.
Instructor for After School Art Program 4th through 6th will be Rod Clause.
Rodney S. Clause was born in Scottsbluff, NE November 13, 1957 and graduated from Gering High school in 1976. In 1995 Clause earned his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art followed by a Masters of Fine Art in Sculpture with a minor in Ceramics. Fifteen years later Clause returned to college and earned a Bachelors of Science in Art Education K-12.
Teaching experience includes working for the Chilson Recreation Center for seven years as a Ceramic Instructor for youth and adult classes. While in Loveland CO, Clause also worked in several bronze foundries as a welder, metal chaser and mold maker. Two years teaching studio art classes at Chadron State College which included ceramics, sculpture, glassblowing, drawing, creative crafts and Art for the Elementary and Middle School Teacher. Clause has owned and operated several art galleries and studios.
Grades 1st – 3rd will attend classes every Monday and grades 4th – 6th will attend every Tuesday at WNAC. Cost is $40 for WNAC members and $50 regular price per month, all art materials included. Price breaks are offered to those registering more than one child and scholarships are available. Deadline to register is September 6, 2019. First classes for 1st – 3rd grade is Monday, September 9th and for 4th – 6th grade Tuesday, September 10th in the classroom at WNAC.
