The Alliance City Council has decided to start over in their process of finding a new city manager.
Following a discussion on the topic Tuesday night, Mayor Mike Dafney tells KNEB News the panel agreed to change the process to one which will be ‘open until filled’.
Dafney says the change will give the city some flexibility that just wasn’t present in the initial search that had a deadline for candidate applications. “As they come in, we want to be able to look instead of having to wait maybe a month out waiting for everything to get in,” said Dafney. “That way, (if) we see someone we like, we can ‘Zoom’ them, and if that hits the spot for us, we’ll go ahead and bring them in and interview them.”
Dafney says the change could also save the city money on incidental search-related expenses, such as travel, motels and meals.
He says advertisements announcing the new search process should be published soon.
