AQuESTT to build a broader, bolder & better school system
RRN/Nebraska Education Commissioner Matt Blomstedt addresses approximately 1,000 educators in Kearney on AQuESTT.

KEARNEY – Public Schools and School Districts will now receive classifications this upcoming fall after a new system, AQuESTT is put into place. The announcement was made to approximately 1,000 school administrators Wednesday morning during Administrators’ Days in Kearney.

Nebraska Education Commissioner Matt Blomstedt explains AQuESTT…

Commissioner Blomstedt went on to say AQuESTT will consider the broader educational experiences and success of each student, not just the performance on mandated assessments.

Schools and school districts will receive classification reports this fall after being graded on six tenets under AQuESTT: 1) positive partnerships, relationships, and student success, 2) transitions, 3) educational opportunities and access, 4)college and career ready, 5) assessment, and 6) educator effectiveness.

Commissioner Blomstedt said educators and students will now be, broader, bolder and better with the new system…

AQuESTT will classify schools and districts into four performance levels: excellent, great, good and needs improvement based on the six tenets. Three priority schools will be designated from the needs improvement classification level.

Commissioner Blomstedt said from the educators he’s spoke with, most are optimistic about the new system…
