Authorities Identify Gering House Fire Victim

Authorities say the victim who died as a result of a house fire in Gering Dec. 17 was the 73-year-old homeowner.

Scotts Bluff County Attorney Dave Eubanks says Marjorie McClure passed as a result of smoke inhalation.

McClure was discovered by Gering firefighters after they spent about half an hour battling the blaze that has been deemed accidental.

Firefighters were forced into a defensive perimeter battle to extinguish the blaze after being confronted by a significant amount of fire and burning, falling debris when they attempted to enter the house upon arrival.
