A 68-year-old man was airlifted to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff following a semi vs. car collision at a highway intersection east of Hemingford Thursday.
Box Butte County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the intersection of Nebraska Link 7-E and U-S 385 shortly after 3:15 p.m. to find a Farmer’s Co-op semi had collided with a Subaru Forrester.
Investigators say the semi driven by 53-year-old Howard Link of Gordon was eastbound on the 7-E link, rolled through the stop sign and collided with the northbound car, trapping Michael Harris of Chadron inside.
Extrication equipment was used to free Harris, and he was transported by AirLink to Regional West Medical Center, where he is currently reported in good condition.
The accident caused a traffic restriction at the intersection for about 90 minutes, and Link was cited for a stop sign violation.
Hemingford Volunteer Fire, Nebraska Department of Transportation, Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Game and Parks also responded to the scene.
