Each Western Nebraska Veterans Home Resident to Receive Personalized Cup

Each Western Nebraska Veterans Home Resident to Receive Personalized Cup

Each resident at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff will be receiving a candy filled personalized ceramic cup just in time for Christmas, thanks to an effort sponsored by local Veterans organizations and the Elks.

Scotts Bluff County Veterans Service Officer John Brehm told KNEB News the project started back in October, with the cups being created by local Veteran Jim Siegfried. Brehm says each cup will be filled with candy and will include the Veteran’s first initial and last name on one side and their branch of service logo on the other side.

Siegfried, who came up with the idea and design for the cups, told KNEB News he tries doing something for residents at the Veterans Home every year.

He says he was trying to come up with an idea, and this one “rang his bell.” He says he cried a little and thought it would be a good idea.

Siegfried says all of these Veterans deserve personalization, and value is never understood until you understand the price that was paid.

Brehm says wives, widows and Gold Star mothers will also receive a personalized cup, with their first initial and last name on one side, and the Department of Veterans Affairs logo on the opposite side.
