Four Corners Health Department COVID-19 Updates

For the first time, a COVID variant has been identified in the Four Corners District.  The health department was notified on April 6 that a positive laboratory test was sequenced as California B.1.429.  This is different from the predominant variant, UK B.1.1.7, found in Nebraska at this time.   The variant strain found in Four Corners District is notable in that it does not respond as well to certain treatment options.  The individual who was diagnosed with the variant COVID strain has been contacted as part of Four Corners contact tracing and case investigation.

In the past 2 days (April 6-7), there were 8 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the District:

  • Seward County had 7 new cases to reach 1,937 cases total.
  • York County adds 1 new case for a total of 1,710 cases.
  • Butler County remains at a total of 851.
  • Polk County remains at 581 total cases.

As of April 7, the total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the Four Corners District is 5,079.  There were 57 new cases in the previous 14 days, with 15 of those cases recorded in the past 7 days.

All Four Corners residents age 18+ are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination at the District’s designated vaccination sites.  Appointments to schedule a vaccine locally are being added each week on the state’s vaccine registration system atvaccinate.ne.gov .  After registering on the site, it is important to check your email often because your invitation to schedule a vaccine will be sent to you over email.  If you have any questions about this process, please call Four Corners at 402-362-2621.
