Nebraska is going to have some of the coldest temperatures of the winter, now through next Tuesday.
The National Weather Service will have a variety of Wind Chill Alerts posted for northeast Nebraska and the entire region this weekend and into Tuesday.
Overnight lows Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mornings might dip to 20-below zero Fahrenheit. Wind chills could make it feel like -25 to -40 at times.
Meteorologists and health officials remind us that frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes with temperatures of -10 and moderate winds.
Dress in layered clothing, limit your time outdoors and make sure you have some emergency items in your vehicle when you travel.
Many area residents have already dealt with flat tires and dead batteries in their vehicles.
Highs around West Point might improve to about 20 degrees by next Wednesday, February 17th.
