Investigation Into Attempted Armed Robbery Of Delivery Truck Continues

Investigation Into Attempted Armed Robbery Of Delivery Truck Continues

Scottsbluff Police are still searching for clues that may lead to the identity of the individual who attempted to rob a delivery truck driver in front of the Scottsbluff Walgreens store on Thursday.

Chief Kevin Spencer says they are hoping anyone in the neighborhood west of Walgreens who may have surveillance video might come forward.

Spencer said the department did some leads on Thursday, most of them having been run down. He said there was a vehicle reportedly in the area west of Walgreens that they are trying to sort out. It was also reported that the person committing the crime was seen walking around in the area west of Walgreens. The department is hoping anyone with video in the neighborhood west of Walgreens might check it and contact them if anything useful may be seen.

Chief Spencer made it clear that the crime did not occur inside the Walgreens store. He said the driver returned to the truck from the store and found the suspect inside the back when an altercation occurred before the suspect fled the area on foot.

Spencer said the driver never saw a weapon but indicated that the suspect told him he had a pistol. A subsequent search of the truck located a BB pistol that did not belong there.

Area schools were notified and made the decision to go into a lockout for the remainder the day Thursday as police continued their search for the subject. Chief Spencer noted that it was a sound decision on the part of the schools, given the information available at the time.
