Local Volunteers Recognized During Annual Volunteer Center Picnic

The 34th Annual Scotts Bluff County Volunteer Center Picnic was held August 13th at the Weborg 21 Center.

The annual picnic is a thank you to the volunteers who deliver over 22,000 plus Meals on Wheels a year, participate in the Shopping for Seniors program at Main Street Market weekly, and the monthly Commodities Home Delivery program.

Also, in attendance were Buckboard Theraputic Riding Academy and the Soup Kitchen. They celebrated their volunteers and shared information about their programs.

There were over 100 in attendance to the picnic, and the Volunteers of the Year were from the Shopping for Seniors program, and have recently retired from the program, Edie Mack who has helped for over seven years, and Ruby Mochi who helped over 20 years with the program.

The Step Up Award is presented to area business partners who have helped to promote the Scotts Bluff County Volunteer Center’s programs and services, KNEB and The Star Herald were co-recipients this year for their years of dedication promoting events and activities for the center.
