Fire in machinery at a Gering manufacturing company left damage estimated at thousands of dollars, but fortunately no injuries among staff or firefighters.
Gering Fire Chief Nathan Flowers tells KNEB News his department was called to CS Precision Manufacturing around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, finding smoke coming from duct vents upon arrival.
Flowers says employees had already safely evacuated the building, and gave direction on where the problems were inside, with firefighters finding more than one machine on fire.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames fairly quickly according to Flowers, who said it’s believed one of the screw machines that makes parts had started the blaze, which then moved into the air handling system.
Flower says significant damage occurred to the machinery inside the building, with an initial estimate of about $200,000.
Scottsbluff Fire had also been dispatched to the scene to provide mutual aid.
