YORK- Jason C. Mitchell, 38, whose address lists Cordova, has been formally charged with first-degree sexual assault, a Class 2 felony which carries a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison if convicted. He has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at Yorks recharge lake. He waived his preliminary hearing in York County Court.
According to the affidavit filed in court, the York County Sheriffs Department was contacted by a woman in York and she says that Mitchell picked her up with his van that he is living in. Allegedly, Mitchell grabbed her by the hair once she entered the vehicle and “forced her head between the seat so she couldnt see where they were going, Then he held her head under the steering wheel and struck her face on an object below her.”
According to the court documents, the victim said she grabbed the steering wheel and tried to free herself and Mitchell allegedly bit her on the index finger. Allegedly they traveled to Yorks Recharge Lake where the victim said Mitchell then allegedly sexually assaulted her. Court documents say that a sexual assault exam was performed at Bryan West in Lincoln. Proceedings for arraignment are pending in District Court.
