Minatare Woman Charged with Felony Assault in Weekend Stabbing Incident

A Minatare woman is facing felony charges following a weekend disturbance and assault involving a kitchen knife.

Clara New has been charged with 2nd degree assault, a class 2A felony, and use of a weapon to commit a felony after investigation of the incident at a Minatare residence Sunday morning.

Authorities say blood was visible on the victim’s pants, and an examination revealed dried blood around an inch-long stab wound on the man’s leg, as well as a small cut on his side and small puncture on the arm.

The victim told officers the wounds happened after he had been arguing with New over the woman wanting to take an infant out of the home.

Investigators say the 25-year-old woman confirmed she stabbed the victim in the leg, after which she was arrested and taken to the Scotts Bluff County Jail without incident. New’s first court appearance was scheduled for Monday afternoon.
