New National Retailer Opening Positive Development for Alliance

New National Retailer Opening Positive Development for Alliance

Residents in the city of Alliance now have more retail options, as a Dollar Tree-Family Dollar combination store opened up recently in the Alliance Plaza.

Mayor Mike Dafney says city officials were pleased to welcome the new retailers, who will help boost the consumer end of commerce in the community.

Dafney tells KNEB News other local retailers have also worked to pick up the slack caused by big-box departures in the not-so-distance past. “One of our businesses that was downtown and moved out east, Carter’s, they’ve done an excellent job of expanding their hardware store to including a lot of stuff that Kmart was carrying. So, they’ve filled that niche pretty well.”

Dafney says local entrepreneurs and businesses, along with small-box versions from national retailers, appear to be the future for most rural communities, especially in light of the virus pandemic.
