Northeast Community College offers classes to help prepare teenagers to drive

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer a non-credit class to prepare
14-17-year-olds with the basic skills to operate a motor vehicle.

The Provisional Operator’s Permit (P.O.P.) Driver’s Education course (TRAN 5110/19F &
CRN #60019/60020) will be held from September 7-15. Class will meet Saturdays, September 7 and 14, from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and Sundays, September 8 and 15, from 1-6 p.m. in the Northeast Utility Line Building, Room 118. Lorie Summers is the instructor.

The class includes 20 hours of classroom lecture and at least six hours of driving to be arranged between the instructor and the student. Parents are asked to attend the first class along with the student at 8 a.m.

Students are asked to bring their learner’s or school driving permit to the first class. A book will be provided. Students must sign up for both the lecture class and the driving sessions.

Cost of the class is $295.
