Northeast to hold pair of December Classes at Norfolk Campus

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer a basic life support renewal class for healthcare providers in December.

BLS for Healthcare Provider Renewal (HLTH 5305/19F & CRN #60088) will be held Tuesday, December 10, from 6-10 p.m., in the Arlo Wirth building, Room 101.

This course is designed to refresh the knowledge of a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. Participants are asked to bring their certification card with them the night of the class.

Cost of the class, with Bradley Korth the instructor, is $40.

Books for both courses are available at the Hawks Shop in the Library/Resource Center on the Norfolk campus.

NORFOLK, NE – For over 30 years, advances in management practices and technology has continued to increase yield potential, resource management, and profitability margins. Couplee that with increasing land and input costs, and the advent of environmental issues and regulations, one can appreciate any method that promotes the possibility of increased revenue, better decision making, record keeping, and reporting.

The Center for Enterprise at Northeast Community College will offer a class in December that is designed to show agriculture producers how to implement a precision agriculture practice that is right for their operation.

Precision Agriculture Implementation: The Right Way for You (AGRI 5130/19F & CRN #60422) will be held Thursday, December 12, from 4-7 p.m., in the Maclay Building, Room 121, on the Norfolk campus.

The class will also be broadcast live via two-way distance learning to Northeast three extended campus locations. In O’Neill, the class (AGRI 5130/19F & CRN #60424) will be offered in the Northeast Extended Campus, 505 E. Highway 20, Room 123. In South Sioux City (AGRI 5130/19F & CRN #60425) will meet in the Northeast extended campus, 1001 College Way, Room 211. And in West Point, (AGRI 5130/19F & CRN #60426) will be held in Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education Center, 200 W. Washington St., Room 219.

Precision Agriculture has grown over the same period. It reaches into every area of agriculture, row crops, livestock (both confinement and range production), orchards, edible crops, and organics.

In this class, Northeast Precision Ag Trainer Lonny Mitchell will discuss what precision agriculture is and how it will impact an operation. Participants will learn what questions to ask when determining the right match for their operation and the steps to take to implement the correct plan. In addition, an exploration of the benefits of purchasing new equipment versus modifying existing equipment will be discussed.
