It was another successful weekend for the organizers of the Monument Marathon, as many records fell on the course, and others were threatened off the course.
Race Coordinator and WNCC Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Reisig tells KNEB News the weather may have been a bit out of the ordinary for the race Saturday, but everyone rose above the conditions. “It was pretty sloppy on the Canal road and I know the bike marshals dealt with a lot back there. Our course marshals and volunteers all over dealt with the cold, the wind and the mud,” said Reisig, “but they did a great job.”
In all, more than 515 runners from New York to California and places between took part in the races, the second-most in the history of the race. Record times were set in both the men’s and women’s full marathon divisions, as well as for the men’s half-marathon.
