Authorities are reminding residents of laws regarding the use of fireworks for New Year’s Eve celebrations as sales of the pyrotechnics begin.
The Scottsbluff Police and Fire Departments say while fireworks can be purchased now through 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31st, they can only be set off from 4:30 p.m. that day until half an hour past midnight on New Year’s Day.
In addition, ordinances prohibit possession and use of fireworks in city parks; it’s also against the law to throw any type of pyrotechnic at or near any person or groups, buildings, or into or from a motor vehicle.
Anyone with questions or concerns may contact the Scottsbluff Police Department at 630-6262 or the Fire Prevention Officer at 630-6227.
