A 33 year old Scottsbluff man was hospitalized Wednesday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg.
Scottsbluff Police Captain Lance Kite says officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East 18th Street just after 5 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a man that had accidentally shot himself in the right leg.
Kite says when officers arrived on scene, they applied a department issued tourniquet to the leg to stop the bleeding.
The man was then transported to Regional West for treatment.
After the investigation was completed, Kite says it was determined that the man was placing a handgun in a “inside the waistband” holster, at which time the firearm was discharged.
The Scottsbluff Fire Department and Valley Ambulance also responded to provide medical treatment.
